TechnipFMC, Subsea 7 scoop Pil & Bue awards

Oil and gas company VNG Norge has awarded Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) contracts for its Pil & Bue development in the Norwegian Sea to Subsea 7, TechnipFMC, and Aker Solutions.

The selected concept for the VNG-operated offshore development is a subsea tie-back to the Njord A platform. VNG started the FEED studies in February.

As reported early on Monday, Aker Solutions secured the FEED work from VNG for the subsea production system that will be used in a tieback of Pil & Bue to the Njord A platform.

Later on Monday, VNG informed it awarded the contract for subsea structures, umbilicals, risers & flowlines (SURF) for the Pil & Bue development to Subsea 7 and TechnipFMC. In addition to Aker Solutions, the subsea production systems contract was also awarded to TechnipFMC.

The operator said the FEED awards were based on a pre-qualification of tenderers.

According to VNG, the studies will culminate in a design competition on which the contract for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI/EPC) will be awarded in the fourth quarter of 2017. The company plans to pass the final investment decision (FID) for the project by the end of the year.
