The Bermuda-based LNG shipper said in a statement that in October 2020, the charterer of the 52 percent-owned LNG carrier Marib Spirit exercised its options to extend the current charter by 14 months.

Under the extension, Teekay LNG secured a higher charter rate. It has also extended the vessel’s charter coverage to early-2022.

Additionally, Teekay LNG said that in December 2020 it secured a two-year deal for Methane Spirit.

The partnership’s 52 per cent-owned joint venture with Marubeni Corporation secured the deal at a fixed rate with a one-year extension option.

The vessel is expected to commence its new contract after its current charter contract ends in March 2021.
