Terntank takes delivery of LNG-powered chemical tanker

Tanker owner Terntank said it has on Monday taken the delivery of the LNG-powered 15,000 DWT chemical tanker Ternsund from China’s Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Co.

The Danish-flagged Ternsund is the first vessel in a series of four 15,000 DWT chemical tankers the Chinese shipyard is building for Terntank.

All of the vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel engines meaning they can run either on LNG or diesel.

According to Terntank, the LNG-powered Ternsund left the shipyard on Tuesday for Singapore, where it will load a cargo and depart to Europe.

The Ternsund is expected to reach Europe in the beginning of August. It will then enter a time charter with Finnish North European Oil Trade (NEOT) to distribute refined oil products from the company’s refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden.
