Thailand: 2011 LNG Imports at 708,138 mt

Thailand imported 708,138 mt of liquefied natural gas in 2011, according to trade statistics.

Avarage LNG import prices in 2011 were at $14.57/mmBtu.

The country has only one LNG terminal, which is located at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong province, and it joined the club of LNG importing countries with the completion of the terminal in May of 2011.

The Map Ta Phut terminal has a five-million-ton regasification (vaporiser) train with two 160,000m³ LNG storage tanks, a jetty, a boil-off gas recondensor, a send-out station and an LNG pump.

Natural gas is Thailand’s primary fuel source used in power generation and industrial sector.
