Royal Niestern Sander Hands Over IMSV Sanaborg

On August 24th Royal Niestern Sander B.V. Delfzijl delivered the IMSV Sanaborg, the first in a series of ice-breaking multipurpose support-vessels (bollard-pull 34 ton).

The Sanaborg and the Serkeborg are the first in a series of icebreakers suitable for shallow waters, that are deployed in the Caspian Sea. The vessels are specifically designed for logistics services to the oil and gas in shallow water and ice.

The propulsion of the IMSV is done by two Caterpillar 3516C-TierII 2000ekW diesel generator sets, electric two rotating propellers (Icepods) drive. The Icepods were developed with Wärtsilä especially for this application.
