Thun Tankers Orders Four Chemical Tankers

Dutch coastal shipping company Thun Tankers has placed an order for four coastal tankers at its compatriot shipbuilder Scheepswerf Ferus Smit B.V.
The vessels, which will feature 7,999 dwt and have a cargo capacity of 9,500 m3, would replace some of the company’s older tonnage.
Featuring a length of 115 meters and a width of 15.8 meters, the new chemical tankers are scheduled to start joining the fleet from the fourth quarter of 2018.
“We are convinced that these vessels will contribute to provide the best logistical and most environmental friendly transport solution to our customers,” Anders Källsson, CEO, Erik Thun AB, said.
Thun Tankers operates a fleet of sixteen tankers, of which 14 are fully owned and 2 belong to the company’s partner Wisby Tankers.
The vessels were built between 1999 and 2009, and feature from 6,535 dwt to 7,915 dwt.
