1) JAPEX to Participate in Pacific Northwest LNG Project, Canada

Japan Petroleum Exploration (JAPEX) said that it has entered into a Heads of Agreement with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS)to participate in a natural gas development and production project in British Columbia, Canada and a planned LNG project on the western coast of the same province, both of which are undertaken by PETRONAS through Progress Energy Canada Ltd and its affiliates.

2)  Russia: GE Nabs USD 333 Mln Sakhalin LNG Contract

GE Oil & Gas has received a 16-year service contract extension valued at $333 million for Sakhalin-2, one of the world’s largest integrated oil and gas projects that operates in the harsh subarctic environment of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East.

3) Gitga’at First Nation: No Clear Consensus on LNG among BC First Nations, Canada

The Gitga’at First Nation says a recent conference on LNG, sponsored by the BC provincial government, has raised more questions than it has answered, and government officials, including Premier Clark, and proponents are getting ahead of themselves if they think there is a clear consensus on LNG among BC First Nations.

4) SHI: Huge LNG Order Cancelled (South Korea)

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) of South Korea has terminated a $2.39 billion order by FLEX LNG for four LNG FPSO vessels, the company revealed in a filling to the stock exchange.

5) Decmil Secures Prelude FLNG Work (Australia)

Decmil Group Limited announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Decmil Australia, has won a $25 million contract to construct a major support facility in the Northern Territory for Shell Development Australia.
