Fire Breaks Out Aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Off Bahamas

The Coast Guard responded early Monday morning to a fire aboard the 917-foot cruise ship, Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas, 35 nautical miles northwest of West End, Bahamas.

South Korea: HHI to Build Drilling Rig for Diamond Offshore

Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. today announced an agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. to build a new Moss CS60E design harsh environment semisubmersible drilling rig. The 10,000’ dynamically positioned rig is expected to be delivered after November 2015. Projected capital cost of the unit including spares, commissioning and shipyard supervision is approximately $755 million.

Speed Limit for Commercial Shipping in Port of Hamburg (Germany)

In future, commercial shipping will have to observe a speed limit of 10 knots in the port of Hamburg. The speed limit is to help reduce erosions on the river embankment caused by waves generated by ships.

GL to Class Five CSCL’s Triple-E Vessels

Germanischer Lloyd (GL) has signed a classification agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the construction of five 18,400 TEU containerships. The so far largest container vessels are ordered by China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL).
