Denmark: Dong Saves Three Days Per Installed Cable

Each time, a cable is installed between wind turbines at an offshore wind farm, time spent offshore can be reduced by approximately three days. A new cable laying concept from DONG Energy points the way to reducing costs. 

First Wind Turbine Installed at Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm (Germany)

The first of a total of 30 wind turbines for EWE’s Riffgat offshore wind farm at the North Sea has been installed. 

France: Alstom 6MW Offshore Wind Turbine Completes Power Performance Measurement

Alstom’s new-generation Haliade™ 150 – 6MW offshore wind turbine has successfully obtained the IEC power performance measurement (power curve) after 3 months of performance measurements at Le Carnet site, in France. 

South Korean Inventor Designs Combined Offshore Power Generation Structure

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published a patent of a combined offshore power generation structure on May 2, designed by a South Korean inventor Hwal Jin Jang.

Global Tech I Transformer Station Successfully Installed (Germany) 

The transformer station for the offshore wind farm Global Tech I has been successfully installed. The offshore platform is a core element of the North Sea wind farm: The power from its 80 wind turbines is gathered here and transformed from 30 to 155 kilovolts.
