Rose will represent the contractor community and joins Glen Cayley, upstream director, Shell UK Limited, who was appointed as vice chairman representing the operator community earlier this summer.

Malcolm Webb, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, commented: “The next stage for our industry will be challenging; and our Board of Directors has a vital role to play in enabling the industry to maximise economic recovery of our indigenous resources – as championed by Sir Ian Wood in his strategy for the sector.

“We are privileged to have such experienced people in leading positions on our Board. Adrian Rose’s appointment is good news for both our contractor community and the industry as a whole.”

Commenting on his appointment, Adrian Rose said: “I look forward to taking up my role on Oil & Gas UK’s Board at such a crucial time for our industry. It is vital that we collaborate in order to strengthen the prospects for our offshore industry and make the most of the North Sea.”

Prior to his present role at Transocean, Rose served as managing director of Transocean’s North Sea Division from October 2011 until December 2012.

Rose joined Transocean in 1983, serving in a number of offshore and onshore management positions. In addition to his role at Oil & Gas UK,  Rose remains also a director of the International Association of Drilling Contractors, a member of the UK Step Change in Safety Leadership team and a member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.

Trevor Garlick, regional president North Sea at BP, and John Pearson, group president, AMEC Europe, remain as the co-chairmen of Oil & Gas UK, representing, respectively, the operator and contractor communities. Archie Kennedy, managing director, Nexen Petroleum U.K. Ltd, continues as honorary treasurer for Oil & Gas UK.
