Transocean’s Two Newbuild Drillships Start Operations

Transocean’s two newbuild ultra-deepwater drillships have started operations on their three-year contracts, the Company announced in their monthly Fleet Update Summary.

The Deepwater Invictus drillship, capable of operating in water depths up to 12,000 feet, began operations for BHP Billiton in the US Gulf of Mexico at a dayrate of $595,000.

The work is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2017.

Another newbuild drillship, Deepwater Asgard, has started its operations in Indonesia on August 21 at a dayrate of $600,000.

The Deepwater Asgard is capable of operating in water depths up to 12,000 feet and drilling wells up to 40,000 feet deep.
