Trelleborg to Showcase Subsea Flow Control Solutions at OTC Brasil

Trelleborg Group’s offshore operations, leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of polymer-engineered solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry, is showcasing its comprehensive suite of subsea flow control solutions, precision seals and hoses at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), Brasil, on stand D23 from the 29th to the 31st of October.

Trelleborg will have on stand a number of over bend control solutions, such as bend restrictors, as well as flow control and thermal insulation solutions that are manufactured in Brasil. In addition, the company will present its subsea buoyancy solution, the distributed buoyancy module (DBM), drilling solutions such as the drill riser buoyancy module (DRBM) and its cable and flowline protection solution, Uraduct.

Commercial Director within Trelleborg Offshore and Construction in Brasil, Richard Beesley said: “Thanks to our recently opened manufacturing facility in Macaé, at the heart of Brasil’s oil and gas community, we are now able to offer local manufacturing with 100 per cent local content, as well as support and storage capabilities. The 7,000m2 plant is closely situated near all the major oil and gas contractors and suppliers in the region, meaning that delivery risk and lead times are lessened, especially when compared with imported products.

“In addition, the investment into state of the art manufacturing equipment demonstrates Trelleborg’s commitment to offering customers the best possible service and preparation for their growing needs in Brasil.”

Trelleborg will also showcase its unique range of sealing solutions specifically for the offshore oil and gas industry. These will include revolutionary SealWelding technology and over 20 NORSOK approved sealing compounds.

Enabling seals to be welded in-situ on the FPSO platform, Trelleborg’s SealWelding solution allows swivel stacks to be replaced while the platform remains in operation. The result is reduced downtime and unnecessary associated costs, which are of huge benefit as lost time on offshore production facilities are calculated as one of the highest of any industry.

Henk-Willem Sanders, FPSO Focus Group Leader within Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, said: “Safety and scheduled maintenance on FPSO’s is critical, which is why we implement intensive research and development initiatives to ensure that offshore operators can meet safety standards, while improving their bottom line.”

Meeting NORSOK standards is a hot topic in the industry. Trelleborg will present its range of 20 seal materials that support its customers in meeting the NORSOK standard. Pioneering in this area, Trelleborg offered the first NORSOK compliant perfluoroelastomer and continues to expand its range to meet the latest application requirements.

There will also be a chance to learn about Trelleborg’s high performance Wedgpak seal which offers improved elastomer stability, lower friction levels and improved extrusion resistance at higher pressures and its latest multi-contact-lip spring-energized Turcon® Variseal® – an ideal solution for fail-close subsea gate valve applications.

In addition, Trelleborg’s field proven large-bore bonded hoses will also be on the stand. Used for crude oil, chemicals, LPG and LNG, these marine transfer solutions provide long service life and a high level of reliability.

Over the past five years, Trelleborg has focussed on growing its presence, support and commitment to the Brasillian market, increasing market coverage in high-growth countries outside Western Europe and North America and improving proximity to customers in expanding and profitable segments, following them in their globalization process and developing local customer relationships.

Now Trelleborg has several manufacturing facilities in Brasil, in Macaé, São Paulo and São José dos Campos, employing approximately 250 members of staff across five sites, and several sales offices to effectively cultivate the local market. Brasil is rapidly becoming an increasingly important market for Trelleborg and the focused investments in the country will continue.
