Turchynov: Lithuanian LNG experience will free Ukraine from Gazprom blackmail
Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with the Klaipedos Nafta leaders on Monday where he got familiarized with Lithuania’s experience in building a liquefied natural gas terminal.
Ukraine plans to build a liquefied natural gas terminal near Odesa in the nearest future. Turchynov stated that “a project of building such terminal that our Lithuanian friends have implemented” is of great interest.
“Building of the terminal, completed in a record-breaking time of three years, allows Lithuania to make Gazprom reduce prices for gas by over 20%,” he said.
Turchynov added that Ukraine “will be able to save funds and time to build such a terminal, but most importantly, it will not allow Gazprom to further blackmail the country, since they wil be able to receive diversified supply of energy resources.”
