Two Freight Forwarding Firms Settle on Price Fixing Charges

Two final freight forwarding companies, which were sued for allegedly being involved in price fixing, have now reached settlements and agreed to establish a USD 53.5 million settlement fund.

The companies in question are DHL Global Forwarding and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, according to the law firms of Gustafson Gluek PLLC; Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP; Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P.; and Lovell Stewart Halebian Jacobson LLP.

Settlements were previously reached with 29 companies which were sued by a group of businesses claiming that the companies conspired, in violation of antitrust laws, to fix the prices for freight forwarding services during certain time periods.

Namely, the companies were said to have conspired worldwide, including on shipping routes in United States and between the US and China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, India, Germany, the UK and other parts of Europe, to fix various charges and surcharges associated with providing freight forwarding services.

According to the law firms, the settling defendants deny that they did anything wrong.
