Two Petrobras' FPSOs Collide in Shipyard (Brazil)

Two Petrobras’ FPSOs have collided in a shipyard in southern Brazil, after their moorings were dislodged by severe wind on Saturday, Reuters reports.

According to the news agency, Petrobras said it would launch an investigation to assess the level of damage to the floating production storage and offloading units P-58 and P-63. The incident occurred in Brazil’s Honorio Bicalho shipyard.

The P-63 FPSO arrived to Brazil’s Port of Rio Grande last Thursday, where it was supposed to undergo final works, before being deployed to the Papa-Terra offshore field, located some 110 kilometres off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the southern Campos Basin.

The first oil from the FPSO is scheduled for July 2013, but it remains to be seen if the collision incident will affect the start-up date.
