Two workers fall to death offshore Malaysia

Two workers died last weekend offshore Malaysia on an Ensco-owned rig after falling from a height of 35 meters.

Two workers fall to death offshore MalaysiaThe workers, a technician and a mechanic, were inspecting a safety boat on the rig before the boat suddenly fell into the sea, Malaysian news agency Bernama reported. The incident happened on Saturday, at 11:04 p.m.

Bernama has revealed the names of the deceased as Valentine Girak 31, and Gabriel Valley, 29, both from Sarawak.

Both of them died from head injuries. Their bodies were sent to the Kemaman Hospital for post-mortem.

Offshore Energy Today sent an e-mail to Ensco seeking more information, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Ensco is a UK-based drilling contractor and the owner of the Ensco 104 rig. The rig is currently working for Malaysia’s SapuraKencana.
