Baker Hughes Incorporated on Friday announced its Weekly Rig Count report. Offshore rig count has dropped.

BHI Rig Count: U.S. Unchanged at 1931 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is unchanged from last week at 1931, with oil rigs up 9 to 1601, gas rigs down 9 to 329, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 1.

U.S. Rig Count is up 170 rigs from last year at 1761, with oil rigs up 232, gas rigs down 57, and miscellaneous rigs down 5.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 62, down 4 rigs from last week, and down 3 rigs year over year.

BHI Rig Count: Canada -28 to 377 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is down 28 rigs from last week to 377, with oil rigs down 20 to 202, and gas rigs down 8 to 175.

Canadian Rig Count is down 11 rigs from last year at 388, with oil rigs down 41, and gas rigs up 30.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
