The new vessels will be the largest bulk carriers in the company’s fleet.

Currently the J.J. Ugland Companies (JJUC) has six bulkers on order, four of which have been contracted by UM Bulk AS, a joint venture between JJUC and Mitsubishi Corporation.

Ugland Marine Services AS, a ship management company in charge of the technical and commercial operation of the supramax bulk carriers, commercial operation of the wholly owned tankers, and the technical operation of the barges, will be in charge of all management functions for the new vessels, to be delivered in the period from 2014 to 2017.

The pool operating company Ugland Bulk Transport A/S currently manages a fleet of 10 supramax dry cargo vessels, with sizes ranging from 52,000 to 58,000 dwt.

Each vessel is fitted with extra self-loading/unloading equipment including grabs.

In addition, several of the vessels are equipped for the transportation of logs and timber.
