UK: A2SEA Installs 1.000th Wind Turbine

UK A2SEA Installs 1.000th Wind Turbine

Today at the RenewableUK Offshore Wind exhibition in Manchester, A2SEA announced that the company had just installed turbine no. 1,000 in its 12 year history.

Turbine no. 1,000 was installed by SEA JACK at the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea.

”It is a huge achievement for our company and we are very proud of having been able to effect the industry. From the very first turbine with SEA ENGERGY in June 2002 on Horns Rev I many things have happened in the industry. With purpose built vessels and challenges with deeper waters and bigger components, the industry has surely grown and are facing different challenges also in relation to reduction of the cost of energy,” says Jens Frederik Hansen, CEO, A2SEA.

A2SEA has installed close to half of the Northern Europe’s offshore wind farms, and the Danish Installation Contractor is looking forward to the next 1,000 turbines.

At the moment A2SEA is installing foundations and turbines at West of Duddon Sands (SEA INSTALLER) and turbines at Gwynt y Môr (SEA JACK and soon to join SEA WORKER). In the beginning of 2014, SEA CHALLENGER will join the fleet as the second new building from Cosco, China and she will be deployed at Westermost Rough from summer 2014.
