UK: ACE Winches Graduate Scheme Accredited by IMechE

The ACE Winches Graduate Scheme has been fully accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, meeting the standard for the development of Chartered Engineers and Incorporated Engineers. ACE Winches currently has eight graduates enrolled in the Graduate Scheme which was initiated in 2011.

The ACE Winches Graduate Scheme was singled out for praise as a team effort supported throughout the entire company, with a plan of rotation through all the relevant disciplines. The ACE Winches programme was also commended for enabling Graduates to take extra time on an individual placement to complete a project, and for testing them against both technical and commercial skills.

The ACE Winches Scheme comprises two years of initial professional development, consisting of a rotational period where the Engineering Graduate will undertake work within a number of departments, followed by two years of increasing responsibility where the Graduate will move into a full time assignment within the Engineering Department. At the end of four years, Graduates will be ready to apply for Chartered Engineer status, providing all the required competencies of the UK-SPEC have been met.

Alfie Cheyne, CEO of ACE Winches said: ‘We are delighted to have the hard work we have put into this scheme recognised officially. The industry is hungry for highly-trained engineers, but also those who have an appreciation of commercial and contractual issues. Our Scheme will bring new engineers on-stream with a complete skill-set both technical and commercial, helping us build our business by nurturing talent from within.’

ACE Winches joins a prestigious list of energy industry companies that hold IMechE accreditation, which has over 100,000 members in 139 countries, and is licensed by the Engineering Council UK to assess candidates for inclusion on ECUK’s Register of professional engineers.
