Arklow Launches Wind Farm Service Vessel Gardian 8

On Thursday 12th January, 2012 the first 20 metre Wind Farm Service Vessel will be launched in Arklow. The vessel named Gardian 8 has been commissioned to service the offshore renewable industry in the U.K.

Sea trials will take place in Arklow next week and the official launch will be on Tuesday 24th January, 2012.

While the launch of the first 20 metre wind farm service vessel is planed for tomorrow a second 20 metre wind farm service vessel is also under construction. All frames and longitudinal stiffening is being fitted at present. Delivery date July, 2012.

Arklow Marine Services is a family business run by the Tyrrell family, who have been involved in boat building in Arklow since 1864. During this period the art of shipbuilding has evolved through many phases, from traditional timber boat building through to steel boat building and the latest material being aluminium used in the building of high speed vessels.
