UK: LNG Imports Drop

UK’s liquefied natural gas imports in the second quarter of 2013 dropped by 8 per cent, according to government data.

Cumulative gas imports rose to 28.3 bcm in the first half, up 9 percent from the previous year.

LNG imports in the second quarter accounted for 33.7 per cent of total imports compared with 39.9 per cent a year ago. In the latest three months of this year, 96.9 per cent of all LNG came from Qatar.

In the second quarter of 2013, imports via Norwegian pipelines were 22.7 per cent higher than a year ago. This was partly due to maintenance work on the Vesterled pipeline system in March 2012.

Imports from the Netherlands were 2.9 per cent higher than a year ago.
