UK: Navitus Bay Three Times Higher than Isle of Wight

BBC Radio Solent had commissioned Bournemouth University to conduct a research about the visual impact of the Navitus Bay wind farm.

The conclusion was that the wind turbines would appear three times as high as the Isle of Wight, writes BBC.

Eneco, the wind farm developer, has not yet decided on the height of the turbines.

The research was conducted for the worst case scenario, namely, if the 210m high wind turbines were used, since these are the highest wind turbines Eneco is allowed to use.

Researches from the university also said the wind farm would cover an area the size of Glasgow.

The proposed development of Navitus Bay could deliver between 900MW and 1200MW of capacity in the northern part of the awarded area. This is enough power to supply between 615,000 and 820,000 homes each year.
