UK: Scira Offshore Energy Presents Vehicle to Holiday Park

Staff at the award winning Kelling Heath Holiday Park now have use of an all-electric utility vehicle to help carry guests’ luggage and meet on-site transport needs following the recent presentation of the “green machine” to the park by wind farm operator Scira Offshore Energy.

Scira General Manager Einar Strømsvåg handed the keys of the John Deere vehicle, called an E-gator, to Kelling Heath Holiday Park General Manager Mark Durrant in appreciation of the patience and support the park’s management and holiday home owners gave the developers of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm during the installation of the onshore cable.

“The onshore cable route was installed under and through the site during 2010 and 2011,” Mr. Strømsvåg said. “But poor weather and other issues meant we were not able to complete the work as scheduled and disruption continued into the Easter holiday period.”

“We liaised with the park management and holiday home owners to determine a suitable mitigation and the electric vehicle was identified as a useful and environmentally friendly solution.”

Mark Durrant added that he was delighted with the vehicle, “which was proving to be a real asset in helping to deliver a quality service to both holiday home owners and visitors alike”.

The 21.3 kilometre underground cable transports power from the landfall at Weybourne to a new substation built inland at Salle. Its completion was in June 2011.

Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm is owned jointly by international energy leaders Statoil and Statkraft through operator, Scira Offshore Energy.
