UK: Vattenfall’s Financial Issues Will Stop EOWDC Development, Trump International Says

After Vattenfall’s recent announcement that it will cut costs to a large extent, Trump International has claimed that the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) in Aberdeen will never be built, STV news site informs.

Even though the company has not yet specified any actions related to the EOWDC project, Donald Trump’s spokesman George Sorial said to STV that the Aberdeen offshore wind project will never start with construction, regardless of the planning approval..

“Irrespective of the pending planning decision from a biased Scottish Government, protracted legal challenges and the simple financial shortfalls of the project will result in its demise,” Mr. Sorial concluded.

Mr. Sorial recently confirmed that Donald Trump will fight the project in courts by filing an appeal to any approval, which would result in delaying the project for a decade.

Aberdeen officials are urging the Scottish Government to make a positive decision as soon as possible in order to get the things going with the EOWDC. Also, a clarification in respect to Vattenfall’s financial announcement is needed.

“If there is a problem with the project, then all partners need to know, so that something can be done to resolve it. So we would welcome some clarity from Vattenfall,” STV quotes Tom Smith, the chairman of the Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future (ACSEF), as saying.
