UK: Wirral Prepares to Seize Offshore Wind Opportunities

Wirral Council is about to knock down the old factory of the former Transfood site in Birkenhead, northwest England in order to renew the site and turn it into an offshore wind industry hub.

The Council yesterday approved plans to buy the premises, which will cost GBP 350,000, with cash provided from the Regional Growth Fund, Wirral Globe reports.

Wirral Council has already secured GBP 5 million from the Regional Growth Fund, working together with Cammell Laird. The money will be spent on supply chain opportunities over the next three years, and this purchase is one with which Wirral aims to advance its economy and bring jobs.
