Uljanik Installs Main Engine in Second Turkmenistan-Bound Ro-Pax

Croatian shipyard Uljanik celebrated the installation of the main engine in newbuilding 502 on Friday the 18th of April 2014, on its island Slipway No.2.

The newbuilding is the second of two contracted ferries (RO-PAX) to date intended for the transport of passengers, trucks and other vehicles in the Caspian Sea area. The vessel is being built for the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan.

Among the distinguished guests to celebrate the occasion were representatives of Uljanik, joined by Mr. Akmammet Puhanov and Mr. Serdar Hajyyev of the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan.

The ship will feature 155.8m in length, 17.5 m in width, and will be driven by two four-cylinder motors which will each have a power of 3,060 kW.

The contract for the construction of Yard 502 was signed in August 2012 and the launching of the ship is expected in June with delivery slated for August 2014.
