Update: Australian Ports Weather the Storm

Most of the ports in New South Wales have been reopened after severe weather conditions kept ports in this part of Australia closed for several days, GAC reports.

Port Kembla, Port Botany and Port Jackson have reopened. However, there are currently no vessel movements at Newcastle due to the slow moving low pressure system and severe weather conditions off the New South Wales coast.

Movements could resume from late today. There is still high swell at the port entrance and flooding of the Hunter River, and some channel markers have shifted as monitoring of the situation continues, GAC reports.

Port Kembla has reopened and the first movement is taking place at 5 pm local time today (22 April).

In the Sydney area, the ports of Port Botany and Port Jackson have reopened from approximately 08 30 am local time today (22 April). Assessments of Port Botany conditions will continue.
