US Congressman Boustany Highlights South Louisiana Role in Global LNG Exportation

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued statement after today’s hearing by the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade focusing on U.S.-India trade relations.

“I am pleased to see South Louisiana taking the lead in becoming a global energy competitor to reduce our nation’s trade deficit and create jobs.

“Louisiana will be home to the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in the continental United States and will be a key player in international trade.

“The Sabine Pass terminal in Cameron Parish will help to create tens of thousands of domestic jobs while allowing for South Louisiana to become an LNG exportation hub. The expansion there represents billions of dollars of investment in our nation’s energy infrastructure. LNG energy production continues to act as a global leader with South Louisiana serving as the epicenter of activity.”
