USA: Bluefin Celebrates Fifteenth-Year Anniversary

Bluefin Robotics, a leading provider of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), is celebrating the company’s fifteenth-year anniversary this month. Incorporated on November 21, 1997, Bluefin ‘spun out’ of the AUV Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). From a small group of engineers, Bluefin has grown to over 100 employees.

Bluefin has experienced significant growth in recent years, winning major defense and commercial contracts including SMCM UUV (Surface Mine Countermeasure Unmanned Underwater Vehicle), HULS (Hull Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Localization Systems), and DSOP (Deep Sea Operations) Technology and System Development Program.

“Our success is a direct result of the support of our customers and the dedication of our employees,” said David Kelly, President and CEO of Bluefin. “We have come a long way since our early days in Cambridge, but I am most excited about what the future holds.”

Bluefin Robotics designs, manufactures and operates Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems and related technology including subsea batteries. Founded in 1997, the company has grown to become a world leader in AUV products designed for defense, commercial, and scientific applications.
