USA: Bluefin Robotics Gains ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Bluefin Robotics has received ISO 9001:2008 Certification for the design, development, manufacturing, operation, and servicing of their Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and related products. The certification was granted by the International Organization for Standardization, TÜV SÜD America Inc, a non-governmental organization that is the world’s largest developer and publisher of International Standards.

The ISO certification is a culmination of the cultural changes and operational improvements which show our commitment to meet and exceed customers’ satisfaction…” said Dr. Bachir Kharraja, Director of Quality at Bluefin Robotics. “…and will help us better position ourselves for more wins and sustainable growth.”

To receive the certification, Bluefin underwent a major transformation that included the development of a Quality Management System (QMS). Implementation of the QMS has translated into successful program execution, market expansion, and business growth fueled by new design wins, improved infrastructure, and robust processes.

“ISO certification was a critical step in preparing the company for full-rate production for current key programs,” said David P. Kelly, President and CEO of Bluefin Robotics. “It is imperative for all companies to adhere to well-established standards of quality in order to be successful and satisfy customer needs. It was especially important for Bluefin as we manage and grow the company as a world leader in subsea technology.”
