USA: Congressional delegation on Offshore Energy Tour

Mark Sanford, the U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 1st congressional district, announced that he would join the Louisiana’s 1st congressional district Representative Steve Scalise’s (LA-1) 2014 Offshore Energy Tour in the Gulf of Mexico on May 13th and 14th.

“The 2014 Offshore Energy Tour gives Members the opportunity to experience first-hand the process of producing American energy in the deep water of the Outer Continental Shelf,” Scalise said. “This tour will provide Members with a better understanding of the technology and skill involved in offshore energy production and how it is critical to America’s energy security.”

“I look forward to learning more about offshore energy production during this trip and witnessing firsthand what it entails, given the role it plays in both our country’s energy future and the larger debate policy makers will have on the pros and cons of drilling off the coast of South Carolina,” said Sanford.

The congressional delegation will meet with stakeholders from the energy industry, visit an offshore production platform, and meet with drilling workers.
