USA: Governor Bob Riley Approves TORP*s Application for the Bienville Offshore Energy Terminal

Alabama Gov. Bob Riley has approved the deepwater port application submitted by TORP Terminal LP for a license to own, construct and operate the Bienville Offshore Energy Terminal, an LNG regasification facility located in the Gulf of Mexico, 63 miles south of Dauphin Island in a water depth of 425 feet.

The Bienville Offshore Energy Terminal will use the award-winning HiLoad Technology and a floating regas ship with no permanent offshore structures. The Terminal will also utilize closed-loop ambient air vaporization, which is a preferred solution of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and environmental groups.

“The Bienville Offshore Energy Terminal has gathered unprecedented support from local and state officials, business and community leaders, and environmental groups,” said Joe Berno, CEO of TORP Terminal. “TORP Terminal has spent several years designing the terminal to be acceptable to these entities, and we are excited to continue this positive relationship with the state of Alabama.

With the Bienville Terminal we plan to offer innovative commercial, as well as technical, solutions to the industry.” Lars Odeskaug, CEO of TORP LNG added that, “TORP is currently pursuing several LNG regasification projects worldwide, and the approval of the Bienville Terminal is an important milestone in our efforts to establish TORP as a worldwide LNG terminal developer.”
