USA: Lee County Celebrates End of Fort Myers Renourishment

As abc-7.com reports, Lee County celebrated the end of its multi-decade renourishment project at Fort Myers Beach Monday.

The additional sand and widened beaches helps protect them from storms and erosion. But it will take more work over the next two years to maintain the new white sand.

Leaders say $4-million restoration project on Fort Myers Beach did have its challenges.

We didn’t get to build exactly the project we’d hoped for,” said project manager Steve Boutelle.
