USA: OPT Uncertain of Buoy Anchor Location

USA OPT Uncertain on Buoy Anchor Location

Ocean Power Technologies, a company that plans to install wave energy system offshore Oregon Coast, was not able to locate its buoy anchor, writes The World Link.

Last fall, the company installed the 450-ton anchor for PB150 PowerBuoy 2.5 miles offshore Oregon Coast, with a float attached to it at the depth of 30 feet.

OPT plans to send a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to look for the device, as the CEO Charles Dunleavy said: “We’re not certain of its disposition.”

Reasons for the float disappearance could be that the anchor has been shifted or that the float has been pulled down.
