USA: Pennsylvania Governor Corbett Tours FMC Technologies in Erie

Governor Tom Corbett toured the FMC Technologies, Inc. Measurement Solutions operation in Erie, speaking about Pennsylvania’s growing economy, the importance of job training and matching skilled people with available jobs.

“In Pennsylvania we have created a steady flow of new private sector jobs and good wages by getting things right when it comes to energy policy,” Corbett said. “This plant’s growth and the entire division’s expansion, with 150 new jobs in Pennsylvania and Ohio, are directly tied to the expansion of the Shale industry.”

“Here in Erie, FMC Technologies employs 269 people, but they are also building on the future,” Corbett said. “At the FMC Technologies Design Center, two dozen engineering students from Penn State’s Behrend campus work on company projects while at the same time train for jobs in their Subsea business.”

Corbett said FMC Technologies’ efforts to train people to work in our growing industry keeps jobs here in Pennsylvania.

“FMC Technologies is a clear example of how, by partnering with the energy industry, we have made it possible for technology firms to expand here in Pennsylvania, while spinning off thousands of other jobs up and down the supply chain,” Corbett said.

FMC Technologies, Inc. is a global leader providing mission-critical technology solutions for the energy industry. The company employs approximately 18,900 people and operates 30 production facilities in 16 countries.
