USA: Petrobras Concludes its Participation in Largest OTC in Years

 

The Offshore Technology Conference 2011, the world’s main event dedicated to offshore oil & gas exploration and production, was wrapped-up Thursday, May 5th. Petrobras showcased, in presentations and at its stand installed at the exhibition fair, its extensive experience in deepwater operations, with emphasis on the pre-salt.

On May 4th, the executive manager for the pre-salt, Jose Formigli, presented an on the production and on the prospects for the future of the pre-salt in the Campos and Santos Basins. Throughout the event, Petrobras executives presented technical papers on various issues related to the offshore activity.

On the same day, in the morning, the executive manager of Petrobras’ Research Center (Cenpes), Carlos Tadeu Fraga, presented the Company’s technological strategy to entrepreneurs in an event sponsored by the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce (Brattec). During the event, Carlos Tadeu was awarded the title of Goodwill Ambassador by the City of Houston.

The Company’s delegation, consisting of about 80 professionals from both Petrobras and its subsidiaries, was led by CEO José Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo. On May 3rd, he granted a press conference and took part, as a speaker, in a Brattec-sponsored event held on the sidelines of the conference’s program.

Exhibition fair

Petrobras’ stand was, once again, one of the most visited of the conference’s fair. More than 4,000 people circulated in the space, which occupied an area of 200 square meters and had a 10-meter tall vertical structure, reproducing the sea water depth and the post-salt, salt, and pre-salt geological layers in scale.

This year, more than 2,500 companies presented the latest techniques, equipment, and services to the oil and gas exploration and production industry at their stands. It was the largest fair in the last 29 years of the OTC.
