USA: UMaine Submits Bid for Floating Offshore Wind Project

The University of Maine submitted a bid for its floating offshore wind project to the Maine Public Utilities (PUC) on August 30, the Bangor Daily News writes.

Details of the bid remain undisclosed, because the PUC is obliged to protect confidential commercial information. However, university spokeswoman Margaret Nagle says that the University believes this to be a strong proposal, which will commercialize UMaine’s floating offshore wind technology. For this purpose, Cianbro, Emera and Maine Prime Technologies LLC established a new company called Maine Aqua Ventus I GP LLC.

The PUC has until the end of the year to determine whether to give a green light on authorizing a long-term contract for UMaine.
