The search for the chief mate who is a Philippine national was launched on February 15 by utilizing assets from Air Station Port Angeles, Station Seattle and the Coast Guard Cutter Wahoo following a report from the vessel’s captain.

As informed, the chief mate missed the evening muster held at 6 p.m. Thursday.

“He was last seen during the morning vessel muster at 10:30 a.m. and was reportedly wearing red overalls. The crew conducted a complete search of the ship with negative results,” the USCG informed

The vessel, awaiting offload in Seattle, had been at anchor north of Blake Island State Park for 48 hours prior to the crew member going missing.

Coast Guard has suspended the search, and an investigation into the disappearance has been launched by Sector Puget Sound investigating officers and Customs and Border Protection officers.
