USCG Medevacs Crewman from Oil Tanker off Texas


A 27-year-old man in need of medical assistance was medevaced from an oil tanker off the coast of Texas on November 27.

The United States Coast Guard sent a helicopter to meet the 40,158 dwt tanker Miss Claudia some 13 miles east of Galveston.

An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew arrived on scene at around 2:30 p.m. and transported the man to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Prior to the medevac, the 2006-built vessel was on its way from the port of Houston to Gola, where it was scheduled to arrive on November 25, AIS data from Marine Traffic shows.
