Varada One’s Tanker Auctioned Off

The Singapore-flagged crude oil tanker Varada Lalima, previously owned by Singapore-based Varada One Pte Ltd, has been auctioned off to new owners following its arrest amid unpaid maintenance claims.

Singapore’s engineering company Goh IGS & Automation Pte Ltd (GIA) filed for court action having been unable to receive payment from Varada for its operation and maintenance of the vessel.

“As a result of the defendant’s failure to reply to GIA’s demand for payment, GIA instructed Clasis LLC to commence admiralty proceedings,” GIA told World Maritime News.

The 1997-built vessel was arrested on 21 April 2015 and remained under the arrest of the Sheriff of the High Court until 16 October 2015. As the shipping company failed to settle GIA’s claim, Clasis LLC obtained judgment against the company.

As the subsequent discussions between GIA and Varada One for the release of the vessel fell through, GIA took out an application for the sale and appraisal of the vessel.

The Aframax vessel was successfully sold and delivered to their new owners on 16 October 2015.

According to the latest data provided by Class NK, the ship has been renamed to GP T2 and its new registered owner is GP T2 Shipping Inc.
