President of Vedder Transportation Group to Receive Global Natural Gas Award

The Vedder Transportation Group announced Fred Zweep, President of the Vedder Transportation Group is set to receive a prestigious Global Natural Gas “NGV Champion” Award November 7, 2012 in Mexico City.

The “NGV Champion” Award is presented biennial by The International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles with its global head office in Auckland, New Zealand.

“NGV Champion Award” is granted based on the following criteria:

  • The achievements of the nominee have significantly advanced the use of natural gas as a vehicular fuel.
  • The achievements of the nominee can be clearly seen in terms of natural gas vehicles in use.
  • The achievements of the nominee have far reaching benefits in the widest interests of the NGV industry in the country concerned.
  • The achievements of the nominee are consistent with good character and political or business ethics.

On October 1, 2011 Vedder Transport Ltd. pioneered the implementation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Engine Technology in Western Canada when it placed into service fifty (50) LNG Class 8 Tractors into its return to base trucking fleet in Abbotsford, British Columbia.On December 1, 2012, the Vedder Transportation Group along with its partner FortisBC will open the 1st of its kind in Canada a fully serviced Commercial Liquefied (LNG) Natural Gas Card Lock Operation located in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
