Veolia-Peterson to support Allseas in North Sea decom project

Veolia-Peterson has signed a contract with the heavy lift and pipelay contractor Allseas for dismantling and disposal services on a Northern North Sea decommissioning project.

Veolia-Peterson, a joint venture comprising of Veolia ES UK Limited and Peterson UK Limited, said on Monday that the main scope of the work was the disposal of the steel platform’s integrated accommodation as well as drilling and production topsides.

All topsides will be removed and delivered by Allseas in a single lift weighing around 12,600 tonnes. The contract between the companies also has an option to add the jacket removal scope.

The operations will begin at Veolia-Peterson’s managed Dales Voe site in Shetland in 2020, with preparation works at the site planned to start in 2019.

The platform engineer, prepare, remove, and dispose (EPRD) contract was awarded to Allseas while the Veolia-Peterson JV was chosen to complete the platform’s onshore disposal. Veolia-Peterson has not revealed further details about the project in question.

James Johnson, decommissioning manager at Peterson, added: “We have been in discussion with Allseas on Single Lift since concept stage and it’s fantastic to see this work coming to fruition with this prestigious contract award, and hopefully the first of many Single Lifts for Veolia-Peterson at our new Dales Voe facility.”

In other related news, Allseas announced last week that its giant multi-purpose vessel Pioneering Spirit completed more than 80 percent of TurkStream’s offshore section in the Black Sea.
