VIDEO: Four Dead, Dozens Injured in Gulf of Mexico Rig Fire

Four people were killed and sixteen injured in a fire that followed a massive explosion early this morning on a Pemex-owned platform in the Gulf of Mexico, the company confirmed.

According to Reuters, at least 45 workers were injured in the blast.

One of the deceased workers has been identified as a contractor employed by Cotemar company, a Mexican oil services company.

Two of the injured platform workers are reported to be in serious condition.

The state-owned oil giant Pemex said that all of the 300 workers have been evacuated from the Abkatun platform, situated in the Campeche Sound.

Eight firefighting boats have been dispatched to the scene and are trying to put out the fire.

It is still unclear of how much fuel has spilled from the shallow-water Abkatun Permanente platform.
