VIDEO Introducing James Camerons DEEPSEA CHALLENGE

On March 26, 2012, Cameron reached the bottom of the Challenger Deep, the deepest part of the Mariana Trench.

The recorded depth was 10,898.4 metres (35,756 ft) when the Deepsea Challenger touched down.

It was the fourth ever dive to the Challenger Deep and the second manned dive (with a maximum recorded depth slightly less than that of Trieste’s 1960 dive). It was the first solo dive and the first to spend a significant amount of time (three hours) exploring the bottom.
