Lowestoft College is a leading provider of training and competence services to the maritime, offshore and energy industries. It has joined forces with the National Wind Farm Training Centre (NWFTC) to launch a one-stop training centre for workers in the wind farm industry. Under one roof, the College and NWFTC provide generic and bespoke courses to meet the safety requirements of the wind energy sector.

The training facilities include a purpose-built climbing and rescue tower to simulate a wind turbine, alongside the College’s environmental survival pool which can replicate the hostile North Sea in controlled safety with wind, waves, rain, lighting and sound effects combining to produce a testing environment in which offshore wind workers can gain the skills needed to survive at sea.

The facility is also equipped with a wind turbine transfer ladder and helicopter hoist to enable transfer and rescue simulations.
