Video: Nordergründe Export Cable Installation

VBMS has shared a video showing the export cable for the Nordergründe offshore wind farm being pulled to the onshore substation near Inhausen, Germany.

The company completed the installation of the 26.5 kilometre export cable in June.

The video shows the pull-in of the cable through the BSS-II to the onshore substation in a two minute timelapse.

Nordergründe is being constructed at a water depth of 10m, approximately 15km north-east of the island of Wangerooge.

The wind farm, being developed by wpd, will feature 18 Senvion Type 6.2M126 turbines scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2016.

The export cable installation works started in early May when the 155kV cable was pulled into an empty tube below the dike near Hooksiel.

As the offshore substation has not been erected yet, the last part of the sea cable was stored on the sea bed in the wind farm area.

Once the offshore substation is completed, the cable will be connected to it and the grid connection will be taken into operation. TenneT, the operator of the grid connection, plans to connect the offshore substation to the grid by the end of 2016.
