P&O Ferry’s Pride of Canterbury travelling across the English Channel (La Manche Channel) from Dover, England, to the French city of Calais caught fire at around 8 am British Summer Time (BST), September 29, according to the BBC.

The fire started in the ferry’s engine room as the vessel was docking in the Port of Calais. All 337 passengers disembarked safely at the port.

The company cancelled two sailings in order for the damage to be assessed.

The passengers affected will be redirected on to the next available departure.

One of the passengers aboard the ferry filmed the moments of panic as the smoke was engulfing the vessel.
