DQS to Repair Jack-Up Rig Tam Dao 01

Vietsovpetro’s  jack-up rig “Tam Dao 01” has entered, Oct 15th, Dung Quat Shipbuilding’s (DQS) Dock No. 1 where it will get much needed repairs.

Tam Dao 01 jack-up rig was built in 1988 in Singapore, overhauled and upgraded in 2006 under the supervision of the Vietnam Register. This is one of the most important rig for exploration and exploitation of oil and gas of Vietsovpetro. Tam Dao 01 has a length of 64.2m, width 68m, height 8m, leg length of 100.10m, drilling well depth of 6000m.

Main items to be repaired at DQS: electrical and automation systems, anti-corrosion painting, hull structure, ballast system, mechanical system, power system, drilling system … The total value of the contract is about 370 billion VND (approx $ 17.7 mln).

DQS has mobilized 7 tugboats towing the rig to Dock safety. Right after entering Dock, DQS engineers and workers have drained and clean shell to prepare it for the next stage of repair works. Tam Dao 01 repair project should be completed within the next four months.
