Viking Line Sets Monthly Passenger Record in July

Finnish ferry operator Viking Line transported record high 945,343 passengers in July 2015, or 20,519 more than the record figure achieved in July 2014.

The number of cars transported grew by 6 per cent to 116,417 compared to July a year earlier.

On the Turku (Finland) – Aland Islands (Finland) – Stockholm Sweden) route, the Viking Grace transported 281,254 passengers or 9,681 more than in July 2014.

The Viking Cinderella, which serves the Stockholm – Mariehamn (Aland) route, also showed increased passenger figures. A total of 111,361 people travelled on the Cinderella, or 12,332 more than during July 2014.

On other routes, traffic was stable, with somewhat fewer passengers (-1.1 per cent) on the Helsinki (Finland) – Stockholm route but with passenger numbers comparable to one year earlier on the Mariehamn – Kapellskar (Sweden) and Helsinki – Tallinn (Estonia) routes.

”We are very satisfied with the trend of passenger numbers in July and are pleased that so many people are choosing to travel on our vessels. The price competition on certain routes this summer has been fierce, which has benefited customers,” said Jan Hanses, President and CEO of Viking Line.
